The films produced by the video production graduates this year includes work from the genres of horror, documentary, and drama. Themes include bullying, domestic violence and triumph over hardship, social media and influencers. The films will be screened on a loop every hour for the duration of the exhibition.
A Short Film telling the story of Ivy. A student who is the victim of daily bullying, gifted a Red Jumper knitted by her grandmother said to contain ‘protective powers.’
A Weight Off My Mind is a short documentary film by 4th Year Creative Digital Media Students at Technological University Dublin. The documentary features Nick Spain, a young avid weightlifter and gym goer from Dublin who praises the gym for helping him to overcome many obstacles in his life. Alongside this we document Nick’s strict gym routine as he prepares to travel to America this summer to take part in a fitness shredding competition.
Sean Murray is a 10-year-old who loves Shaun of the Dead and has a wild imagination. When his Mother leaves him in the house under the care of his sister for a few hours, it’s game time. After applying his war paint and trusty red tie, he sets out fortifying his stronghold. He places ‘weapons’ around his house for easy access, a sparkling gymnastics baton, toy sword and bouncy ball. His ‘rations’ consist of various treats and biscuits that he has stored up for the last week. He watches as his neighbours ‘flee in terror’ from the impending ‘zombies’ that reside outside. As Sean eats his way through his ‘rations’ he comes up with a plan satiate his hunger, but not everyone is happy.
