CDM Students’ Success at Cork Film Festival
Students from the Creative Digital Media programme at the Institute of Technology Tallaght will have their recent film work showcased at the 62nd Cork International Film Festival which starts today.
Six graduates from the course will feature as part of the production team unveiling their short film ‘The Secret Market’ which screens at the festival Saturday November 11th at 11.45 in the Gate Cinema.
The film stars Victoria Smurfit and Tadhg Murphy and it was directed by ITT Institute lecturer Garret Daly.
The graduates all applied for trainee production positions on the film when it shot in Dublin and Offaly in May earlier this year. They included Karl O’Reilly, Brian McGuinness, Ellen Redmond, Katherine O’Halloran, Cody O’Sullivan and Martin Hayes Kelly.
The film sees Victoria Smurfit play Dr.Amy McCarthy, a surgeon who has risen through the medical ranks until to find her near perfect life destroy by a past that comes back to haunt her. The film held its premiere at the Rhode Island International Film Festival in August where it won the Grand Jury Prize for Best Screenplay. It also won the Audience Best Short award at the recent Richard Harris International Film Festival.

The film will continue its festival run throughout 2018.
